Block Leader Agreement: Living Forgiveness, Love, Kindness, and Respect

Why This Agreement Matters

At Local Help Owen Sound, we see block leaders as key to building a community rooted in forgiveness, love, kindness, and respect for free will. These values reflect our belief that everyone is connected as part of one greater whole, created by love. This agreement helps you commit to these ideas in your role, while staying true to yourself and respecting the diversity of our community. It also follows Canadian laws, ensuring fairness and inclusion for all, no matter their beliefs or background.

What We Ask of You

As a block leader, we ask you to:

  • Show forgiveness: Let go of judgment toward yourself and others, seeing mistakes as chances to grow and heal with love.
  • Act with love: Treat everyone with care and understanding, knowing we’re all part of the same creation.
  • Be kind: Offer support and positivity in all you do, lifting up those around you.
  • Respect free will: Honor everyone’s right to choose their own path, never pushing or controlling others.
  • Serve others: Help your community in ways that feel right to you, sharing the love that connects us all.

These aren’t just nice ideas—they’re the heart of being a block leader. We trust you to live them out in your own way.

Your Personal Practice

To stay strong in these values, we encourage you to find a personal practice that works for you. It could be:

  • Taking a quiet moment each day to reflect on forgiveness and love.
  • Saying something simple like, “I forgive, I love, I respect all as one,” or your own words that inspire you.
  • Meditating to feel connected to the love that’s in everything.
  • Any habit that keeps you grounded in kindness and service.

We suggest this phrase if it fits you: “filled with love and respect for all, I forgive, honour free will, and serve my community” But it’s up to you—choose what feels true and keeps you ready to lead with heart.

How We’ll Support You

We’re here to help you grow, not to judge you. Here’s how we’ll check in:

  • When you start: Tell us about your personal practice during onboarding.
  • Every month or so: We’ll talk with you about how it’s going—how your practice helps you forgive, love, be kind, and respect others’ choices.

These chats are about support. If you’re finding it hard to live these values, we’ll work with you to get back on track. We also want to hear what the community thinks about your leadership—it helps us all grow together.

If Things Get Tough

Being a block leader means sticking to forgiveness, love, kindness, and respect, even when it’s hard. If someone notices you’re struggling with this, here’s what happens:

  • We’ll sit down with you to understand what’s going on and how we can help.
  • We might offer training or a mentor to guide you.
  • If it’s still not working, we’ll talk about whether this role is right for you—but we’ll always try to support you first.

This isn’t about punishment; it’s about keeping our community strong and true to these values.

Room for Everyone

Canada celebrates all kinds of people, and so do we. This agreement doesn’t force you into one way of thinking or acting—it lets you express forgiveness, love, kindness, and respect in your own style. That keeps it legal under laws like the Canadian Human Rights Act and makes our community richer.

Your Commitment

By signing this, you’re promising:

  • I get why forgiveness, love, kindness, and respect for free will matter as a block leader.
  • I’ll keep up a personal practice to stay true to these values.
  • I’m okay with regular check-ins to talk about how I’m doing.
  • I’ll live these values every day, and if I slip, I’ll work with Local Help Owen Sound to get back on track.
