Grey County Update: Geothermal

Grey County Update: Geothermal

Through you honourable Warden Matrosovs,

Been a while since I've managed to squeeze in an email, will try and keep it brief.
Wanted to congratulate Councillor Greig for handling the climate change deniers so well, I do find that argument about resources running out quite effective. Also at least their sentiment with keeping things local is nice, and it seems the Council is already doing a fairly good job in that regard.
Also congratulations on buying a motel for vertically integrating temporary shelter for the recently homeless in our area, though I would note that long term will still need some way of helping the poor migrate to rural land where they can build their own shelters and grow their own food consistent with indigenous life ways that we at least allege to support with every land acknowledgement.

In terms of updates with international scientists, they confirm that realistic oil remaining is about half that of the "official" numbers that the SEC forces companies to state https://www.youtube.com/live/cQ2jQwP0Sh0?si=S3xXGm4q9-iTxJ66
Meaning that we are more or less on track, we are in plateau now (which can cause some turmoil), and more serious decline will begin in the 2030s.

Also that while geothermal is long term viable, may need to wait till mid 2030's before it's deep enough that Grey County can take advantage of it: https://www.youtube.com/live/VmHp6kGa2wA?si=GQIicxjwxtM1vpAH

Though notably the geothermal assays of Canada compeltely skipped Grey-Bruce, though judging by nearby areas like london and barrie we should be able to achieve the 150-175C range at 6.5km depth:

Meaning we could be eligible to have a geothermal system in the 2031-2035 range based on current trajectories,
though will have to keep track of the success of the Eavor-Deep in Germany scheduled to go online within the next year:

this is based on polynomial regressions on the existing data:

A closed-loop geothermal pilot project in Grey County would deliver lasting energy security and economic growth for the region. A single 10 MW system could supply clean, stable heat and power for over 5,000 homes through district heating or support commercial greenhouses, agro-processing, or data centers with round-the-clock renewable energy. With Hydrogen Optimized—Canada’s leading green hydrogen technology firm—based in Owen Sound, and direct access to the Owen Sound port, the County is uniquely positioned to integrate geothermal with large-scale hydrogen production and export. Unlike intermittent sources, geothermal offers reliable baseload power for centuries, making it ideal for anchoring long-term energy infrastructure. This project would create skilled local jobs, attract clean-tech investment, and establish Grey County as a national leader in sustainable rural innovation and energy resilience

To pursue a closed-loop geothermal pilot project in Grey County by the early 2030s, Council can begin by formally requesting updated geothermal temperature gradient data from the Ontario Geological Survey and Natural Resources Canada, as Grey County was missed in earlier federal and provincial assessments. Partnering with the University of Waterloo, which has leading expertise in geothermal energy, hydrogeology, and subsurface thermal modeling, would support a rigorous and regionally informed feasibility study. Applying for funding through programs such as NRCan’s Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities or the Green Municipal Fund will help attract investment and pilot technology providers like Eavor Technologies. A Council resolution of support, alongside collaboration with local landowners, greenhouse operators, and agricultural producers, would demonstrate regional readiness and secure Grey County’s place in Canada’s emerging clean energy landscape.

“The release in a controlled fashion of heat energy is achieved… through the heating and cooling effects of your geothermal forces, allowing for the continual harmonization of this planetary influence as it moves through this period of transition.”Q’uo, May 3, 1992

May you be blessed,
Andrii Zvorygin
