Grey County Update: Scott Greig Interview & Co-Op Farm

In regards to the Co-Op farm proposal in Thornbury I know Councillor Milne among others voiced some concerns, and from what little I know about it, it seems to be well in line with pre-industrial norms for farm organization, and as we are running out of fossil fuels it is only  natural that we transition back towards more sustainable population density.

While I don't know the specifics of this specialty crop area, but assuming it's an orchard, and they dedicate a wood coppice for heating fuel, with high efficiency homes.
Then we'd be saving 85 tons of CO2 or around 32 thousand litres of gasoline by having the co-op instead of temporary foreign workers:

Also brief update, my father-in-law was briefly famous for wearing a "Canada is not for Sale" hat, and got a call from Premier Doug Ford, who left his personal cell phone number. When Dan called back, Doug picked up during a meeting with the Prime Minister and other Premiers. And in terms of the peak-oil/energy our best lead now is deep geothermal, so I've had privilege to connect with Finnish Department of Energy, Geological Survey of Finland, Owner of the deepest geothermal boreholes in the world (6.4km), as well as leading American scientists on deep geothermal such as Joseph Moore who have had breakthroughs over the last year. The goal being that if we manage to get the core technologies proven in Finland where they have very similar geology to Ontario, then we can do it here, and have stable renewable baseload power. For comparison a 2 acre deep geothermal plant can yield as much or more than 200 acres of solar panels, with longer life expectancy, less maintenance, and no batteries. 4 geothermal well loops could provide district heating and electricty for all Owen Sound. Before I close, I’d like to share something from  "I am Word"  a new book series I'm reading that speaks to the inner work we all do—whether as citizens, councillors, or caretakers of this land. Sometimes, even when the data supports a new path, old assumptions or emotional attachments can quietly resist change. That’s human. But letting go of those inner "boulders"—the doubts, the resistances—can free us to support something truly healing.
