Show Us Where the Money Goes

Residents should be able to clearly see how their tax dollars are being spent.

I support greater financial transparency at the City of Owen Sound, including:

• clear, accessible budgets and year-to-year spending comparisons;
• public reporting of spending by department, service and major project;
• salary and compensation information within appropriate legal limits;
• clearer reporting of debt, interest costs, reserves, surpluses, grants and major contracts;
• enough underlying financial information for residents and councillors to understand how reported totals were calculated.

Good decisions require good information. Residents should be able to follow the money through clear summaries, searchable records, and readily available basic financial information.
