Owen Sound Mayor and Council Candidate Questionnaire

Start with 18 core issue questions covering crisis and community safety, City finances and accountability, essential services and infrastructure, housing stability, neighbourhood participation, and local resilience. Together, these answers give residents a balanced overview of each candidate's approach.

Each question includes practical examples drawn from the published mayoral platform. The examples show how a principle could be applied. Candidates may broadly support a principle while proposing different methods, limits, schedules, or funding approaches.

The 18 core issue questions take approximately 15 minutes.

Before submitting

For each question, select Broadly support, Support with qualifications, Broadly oppose, or Undecided. Candidates may provide an optional explanation with every answer. The 18 core issue questions are required for a complete response.

Submissions are open to candidates certified for Owen Sound's 2026 municipal election.

Submissions are saved immediately and scheduled for publication 24 hours after submission. HelpOS sends a complete courtesy copy to the email address supplied. During the 24-hour courtesy review period, reply if the submission was unauthorized or a correction is needed.

HelpOS uses the submitted email address for the courtesy copy and questionnaire follow-up. Candidate contact information continues to come from the public certified candidate record. Published responses become attributable evidence in the Mayor and Council Candidate Comparison. Previous published versions remain available internally when a candidate submits an update.

Publication and corrections

Published questionnaire responses become attributable evidence used in the Mayor and Council Candidate Comparison. Responses can clarify a candidate's position, fill gaps in the available evidence, and increase the amount of documented information available for comparison. This may improve a candidate's placement when residents sort the comparison by Most information available.

Relevant questionnaire responses and explanations may be linked from individual comparison issues as source evidence, allowing residents to read the candidate's position in their own words. The comparison synthesizes documented evidence into its issue-by-issue presentation.

Candidates who believe an answer or source has been recorded inaccurately can request a correction through the contact information in their confirmation email or by emailing andrii@zvorygin.ca.
