Trump told a lengthy story about negotiating over the price of Sharpie pens. The company says it has no record of any such conversation.

Sharpies are not pens. Sharpies are markers which are closer to signing everything with a crayon.

The ones trump uses are definitely not. But the Sharpie brand does sell pens as well now.

They are good pens but even if he heard of their pens he would still be signing in bold with a marker. If you asked anyone to go buy you a Sharpie you will wind up with a marker when they get back.

They’re also much easier to hold and use for someone with motor issues, especially the big ones.

Sharpies are not pens. Sharpies are markers

Which is short for “marker pens”.

Are we actually sure Trump isn’t just an LLM these days? The amount of complete fabrication and nonsense being spewed with such confidence is eerily reminiscent of AI hallucination.

I’d rather he save the country billions (or trillions) of dollars by cutting back on golfing excursions, stopping all the corruption going on in his cabinet, and oh yeah, not bombing brown babies in foreign countries.

There’s already a brand name for when you fark things up permanently: Trump. They’re not changing their company name for him.

As far as anybody can tell, he made the whole thing up. The sharpies for signing are real, but likely are standard sharpies that somebody silk-screened a logo onto.

Why they dry out within hours, smudge nonstop, not even a good shade of black, wipe clean with hand sanitizer on hard surfaces, and bleed to Illegibility on paper. Literal bad at everything they are the maga of pens.

Hold up, you’re saying they wipe off when cleaned with strong alcohol based cleaning solution? Weird.

Yeah, surprisingly enough, rubbing alcohol makes a great degreaser, it’s also good for like, when you take a sticker or a label off of something, and it leaves a residue behind? That stuff, rubbing alcohol takes it right off.

Personal anecdote, one of my buddies in college had the misfortune of “being the first guy to fall asleep at the party” so of course we drew a bunch of dicks and stuff on his face. The only thing we could find to clean it off the next day was a bottle of 90% isopropyl, and a little bit got into his eye, he got so mad that he punched a hole in his bathroom wall.

Only on Lemmy would someone get indignant about pens…. you don’t have to love Sharpie, just accept that the world includes some who do. It’s ok.
