I admire your sense of optimism. Its heartening and I respect it and think maybe you are living life the best way, although it seems doomed in this one case.
The Apr 9 symbolic vote in the DNC to stop PAC influence was defeated, as was the separate symbolic vote to stop AIPAC influence in the party. So its still a party that doesnt acknowledge that the opinions of independents are worth hearing. They will demand independents come to them, and I think with the group of insincere clowns they will run as candidates, it wont work and they will lose the midterms, again.
Which only really leaves accelerationism, right? I wouldnt be disappointed to be wrong, but we have to be prepared for either outcome. We need to win your way or we need to dismantle it so the mass killing and gross inhumanity (even within our own borders) stops. Seems to me that worst case is laying back and letting the blood of uncountable innocents accumulate on our hands.
So doing what the centrists demand is not an option.
Yeah, that was a sad vote, and completely out of touch with the electorate. We’ll just have to take it out on them at the ballot box. The good news is that there will be a bunch of new Congressional Rep’s, and maybe even Senators, and we have to make it clear to them that support of Israel and the war is the kiss of death.
A big part of the problem is that it isn’t always about taking the money. If you refuse the money, then they will just launch a vicious smear campaign against you in the election. It’s kind of how Escobar used to bribe judges and politicians - here’s a whole bunch of money, and if you don’t take it, we’ll kill you, and offer the money to the next guy. He’ll take it.
When we emerge from this, it will be time to rebuild our nation, and it will be the perfect time to create campaign corruption laws with teeth, and start prohibiting political campaign extortion, among other things.
