Good. Nullify everything these assholes do.
It’s a post-truth world for many people and maybe always has been. Feelings are the only things that matter. The “facts don’t care about your feelings” line was, as always, projection.
I think few people think they’re reasonable and not extremist, even when they are relative to the Overton window.
Like, the guy who wants to deport all immigrants thinks he’s a centrist because he doesn’t want to kill them.
They’re still there for, well, I can think of three reasons.
People vote for them. Organizing people to vote is hard for various reasons, but that mechanism is still present.
They’re not murdered. Always an option, but certainly an escalation that doesn’t scale well.
They’re not expelled. Wikipedia says "In the entire history of the United States Congress, 21 members have been expelled: 15 from the Senate and six from the House of Representatives. Of these 21 members, 17 were expelled for supporting the Confederate States in 1861 and 1862. ", so that’s not a commonly used option.
Personally I worry that if non-violent options fail, more people will see violence as an acceptable option.
My elderly father thinks “workers don’t know how to run businesses”, which is funny to me considering how many bone-headed decisions I’ve seen management make. Plus pointlessly cruel ones, alongside selfish and short-sighted ones.
Republicans are bad people who value personal power and in-group belonging more than anything else like morals or consistency. They are bad people. That’s how bad people make decisions.
