Apparently the creation of the First French Republic, which abolished feudalism and monarchy, created a declaration of human and civil rights that was foundational for a century of liberal democratic revolutions all across Europe and is still celebrated today as a national holiday, wasn’t a good ending because the forces of reaction managed to get back in power for a few years.
