Owen Sound City Councillor Candidates Wanted
Paid elected position | Four-year term
Andrii Zvorygin, candidate for Mayor of Owen Sound, is inviting community-minded residents to consider running for one of the city’s seven councillor positions in the 2026 municipal election.
- Salary: approximately $28,015 per year
- Estimated commitment: 8 to 14 hours per week
- Nomination deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Councillors are elected city-wide by Owen Sound voters. Members of our neighbourhood team would also build a close working relationship with a particular part of the city, giving residents a clear person to contact and helping local priorities reach Council.
What you would do
- Attend Council, committee, and neighbourhood leadership meetings
- Respond to residents and follow concerns through City Hall
- Read reports, research issues, and make informed decisions
Some meetings occur during weekday working hours and others in the evening. Much of the reading, correspondence, research, and neighbourhood follow-up can be scheduled around employment and family responsibilities.
Support throughout the campaign
You can join a coordinated team working toward stronger neighbourhood representation in Owen Sound.
Andrii can help you understand the nomination process, organize forms and endorsement signatures, develop your candidate message, and prepare for the campaign. Optional weekly team meetings will provide coordination, shared planning, and mutual support.
Each candidate maintains independent judgement and control over their own views, decisions, and campaign.
Who should consider running?
Political experience is optional. This role may suit someone who listens carefully, follows through, reads information thoughtfully, and wants to serve their community.
Candidates must generally be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old, and eligible to vote in Owen Sound. Filing requires 25 endorsement signatures from eligible local voters and a $100 nomination fee.
Interested or curious?
Call or text Andrii Zvorygin at 226-256-1632, or email andrii@zvorygin.ca, to arrange an informal conversation.
No résumé is required, and speaking with Andrii creates no obligation to run. You may also contact him to recommend someone in your neighbourhood who could provide thoughtful, reliable, and compassionate representation on Owen Sound Council.
